Our client, a prominent player in the retail sector based in France, is undergoing a transformative project aimed at
migrating their virtualization infrastructure from VMware to Nutanix. With a commitment to leveraging cutting edge technology to enhance operational efficiency and drive innovation, our client is seeking a talented Virtualization Engineer to lead this migration initiative on a long-term freelance basis.
Project Description:
The primary objective of this project is to transition the existing virtualization environment from VMware to
Nutanix, leveraging the latest advancements in hyperconverged infrastructure technology. The migration will
involve assessing the current VMware environment, designing and implementing the Nutanix infrastructure, and
executing a seamless migration plan to ensure minimal disruption to business operations. The Virtualization
Engineer will play a key role in architecting the new Nutanix environment, optimizing performance, and ensuring
compatibility with existing systems and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess the current VMware virtualization environment, including infrastructure, configurations, and workloads.
- Design and architect the Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure to meet the client's requirements and objectives.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive migration plan, including migration strategies, timelines, andrisk mitigation measures.
- Configure and deploy Nutanix clusters, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of Nutanix infrastructure withexisting systems and applications.
- Perform migration of virtual machines (VMs) and workloads from VMware to Nutanix, minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.
- Conduct testing and validation of the Nutanix environment to ensure compatibility, performance, and stability.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance during and after the migration process.
- Document migration processes, configurations, and best practices for knowledge transfer and future reference.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in virtualization engineering, with expertise in VMware and Nutanixtechnologies.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing virtualization infrastructure, preferably ina retail or similar industry.
- In-depth knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure, including AHV, Prism, and NutanixCalm.
- Familiarity with migration tools and methodologies for transitioning from VMware to Nutanix.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Fluency in French and English languages, both written and verbal.
